Summer holiday in Maison Tillac - Julie-Ann - London - August 2008

One is always apprehensive upon arriving at a holiday rental which has not been recommended, but approaching The Grange was a welcomed delight to all in our party. The property is situated on rather grand and beautiful grounds - visually impressive both inside and out.  The Grange is both traditional - with all of the expected features (open beams, etc) - but also modern and up-dated to the highest standard (an en-suite in all bedrooms - with an unlimited supply of hot water).

The pool, situated behind The Grange - well maintained by Tony (who had to repeatedly endure the endless questioning of our 8 year old daughter), is well missed by all of us. It's the perfect size for the kids and the adults to swim off the extra calories acquired while tasting the local food.

Madeleine and Tony - the hosts - were extremely helpful, yet not intrusive. The perfect combination!
Want to know about the local wines, the best places to eat, places of interest, films on show, anything .....ask Madeleine or Tony.....a wealth of knowledge.  The village itself is quaint and pleasant......with Tillac only a short drive away form the Jazz Festivals...the purpose of our visit.

In summary, The Grange, its hosts, the area, culture, food, wine, music, the list go's on....come fully recommended by all in our summer holiday party of 2008.

The Cottage - Carmic - Abu Dhabi - July 2008

I spent 3 weeks at the Cottage during the summer with my 3 young children and we all had a marvellous time. The facilties are very good, the area lovely, the village is a short stroll away and our welcome could not have been friendlier.  I had inspected the gite a few months before along with several other properties, and the standard of accommodation at the Cottage is excellent. We were very comfortable and the surroundings are beautiful. The grounds are lovely, the village is full of character and, although tiny provides a restaurant/bar, general store and butcher, even a lttle market on Sundays - everything you need within walking distance.

Our hosts were extremely kind and helpful and we felt very welcomed and at home during our stay. I highly recommend this property and would not hesitate to stay there again.  Recommended for: Families with young children

Maison Tillac - a super gite! -   Group from Bristol UK - May 2008

We stayed at La Grange (the larger of the 2 gites that make up Maison Tillac) in May 2008. This was our second visit. Renting both gites together would make a super base for a large family gathering.  The property is in lovely countryside and is a beautifully converted barn. It is spacious, spotlessly clean, well-appointed and comfortable. The swimming pool is superb. There is a lovely terrace and garden where you can soak up the sun and eat "al fresco", or sit in the shade of the gazebo if the sun is too hot.

The owners, Madeleine & Tony, who live next door, gave us a very warm welcome and were keen to do anything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We had a baby in our party; the gite was well equipped with a modern cot and high chair.

The picturesque village of Tillac is a couple of minutes' walk away. We were glad to be able to get fresh French bread and other provisions, just a few steps from our front door. There is also an award-winning butcher's shop in the village.  We had a lovely meal in the nearby town of Marciac, at a restaurant recommended by Madeleine. The Gers is a pretty, unspoilt and quiet area of France, with some stunning fortified villages (of which Tillac is one). Come and discover it!

Wedding Visit & Family Reunion - dessie - Cambridge UK -  June 2008

Top of the range accomodation, very spacious rooms, gardens and location. Able to satisfy everyone from an aged Granny with her own downstairs room through a son about to get married to a 6 month old baby.
Many of our wedding guests were staying in the area - it proved to be an excellent location in which to meet some of them for a barbecue, lunch and dinner. Felt just like at home but in very evident French surroundings. They were envious of our accomodation !!  Our son was able to marshall his groomsmen, give them breakfast and then all leave in some style. Plenty of space available for an increasingly nervous bunch of lads. Our hosts were courtesy itself - went to considerable trouble to ensure our that our visit was troublefree. Heartily recommend for a family holiday or reunion - we would certainly return.

Homeless in Mid-Winter - Wenand - Beaumarche, France - Janusry 2008

My wife and I spent 5 weeks at la Grange from late January to early March 2008.

The gite was in good order and immaculately clean on our arrival, with a welcoming “starter” of logs and kindling in the timber store. Despite some frosty days and nights the electric space heaters and wood-burning stove, plus an ample supply of hot water, ensured our comfort. In summary it is a tasteful and attractive conversion from the original farming usage.

The property is accurately described by the owners as regards location, layout and amenities. The local village shop where basics can be obtained has been augmented by the recent opening of a supermarket, complete with road fuel and car wash facilities, some ten minutes away on the approach to Marciac.

La Grange provides comfortable and user-friendly accommodation in an ideal location for those needing a longer stay. It has a double bedroom and en-suite shower room on the ground floor which we found to be very convenient.

The main Auch – Tarbes road is only five minutes away, and the main road leading past Plaisance to Aire sur l’Adour and Mont-de-Marsan goes past La Grange. The foothills of the Pyrenees are little more than an hour away. Toulouse (Blagnac) airport is realistically two hours away, and has a steadily increasing choice of European services, with Pau offering a smaller range of direct flights and useful feeder services via Paris, Amsterdam and London (Stansted). Pau, being smaller in all respects, is handy for less mobile and elderly travellers. The nearest TGV station is at Tarbes, 40 minutes away.

Good walks are available from the door and car parking is both ample and private. Even in February we were able to take advantage of the provision of outdoor tables and chairs at the rear of the building, as well as shelter for drying washing. One niggling feature of the location is that obtaining good signal strength with mobile telephones is well-nigh impossible. However land line telephones are installed in both parts of Maison Tillac.

The proprietors of Maison Tillac live on site, are always willing to answer questions about the area, and help should visitors have any problems. Being keen gardeners they take pride in keeping the property attractive and colourful.

We hope that you enjoy your stay as much as we enjoyed ours.

Family Reunion at Maison Tillac - Mike and Carla B, Oklahoma USA - July 2007

We had our family reunion at Maison Tillac for two weeks in July, 2007.  There were 13 of us from three different countries (Denmark, France and the USA).  We have our family reunion every year in a different country and without doubt Maison Tillac has been the best experience we have had.  The gite is an absolute dream with beautiful setting, great amenities and accommodations. Madeleine and Tony were wonderful hosts and made us feel at home.  I, and the rest of my family, would highly recommend Maison Tillac to anyone looking for a relaxing and pleasant vacation.  We look forward to staying at Maison Tillac if our reunion returns to France.

Very Nice Stay During Jazz Festival - Gerard F. - Chatou France -  August 2007

We have very much enjoyed our stay in Maison Tillac . The comments from the nine of us is : top quality houses, very clean and very well furnished with all necessary comfort (beds, bathroom suites), kitchens are well equipped, agreeable swimming pool ( also very clean). We wish to come again next year (hopefully 12 instead of 9).
